Teeming with a quarter million people, the Dalmatian coastal town of Split feels fresh and modern, but its history goes way back — today's city began within the protective walls of what was a palace built by Emperor Diocletian in about 300 a.d. Split may have Roman roots, but the vibrant city is all about today. • Croatia is trully magnificent

  • Until I saw this show, I always thought of Croatia as a war-torn, bleak country. My god, was I wrong - this is on my short list on countries to see.

    Nice!

  • I live in Split, and I can objectively say that it's the greatest city ever! I suggest to you all to visit it, people are nice and I'm sure you'll have a grat time ;)

  • The greatest city ever!!

  • That is a lovely city. I wish I were there.

  • Woow what a beautiful place!! im going there 1 August with my Croatian friend she`s been asking me many times to go there, finally i decided to go:) im def looking forward to it.

  • @BuraAB Montenegrins are actually more of a highlanders. Most of their coastline was in fact populated by Croats all the way up to the early 20th century. In fact Bay of Kotor (Cattaro) was part of Austro-Hungarian Croatia and even during first Yugoslavia but communists took it away after 1945. Most Croats from the Bay of Kotor immigrated due to poor conditions of living or mentioned political circumstances to Australia, America's or moved to other parts of Croatia.

  • Split is 1700 years old modern city.I have an old stone house on island Vis which is over 400 years old.Come and see Split and the islands Solta,Hvar,Vis.

You will love it.For example Vis was inhibited in IV century b.c.

It is the island of sun, songs, wine and culture.Do not forget to try plavac(red) or vugava(white) wine.Whenever my Canadian winter is too long.My mind is on my island Vis.
