Tutorial Program: Adobe Photoshop CS4 (not specific to CS4 - you can use any image editing program you want)

- How to cut out with a pen tool (preparation for next tutorial) -

Here, you see how to cut out a board (using the pen tool) and then making it look older and as if it has been broken at the ends. We will be using this image in the next tutorial (which will be a photo manipulation).

after i control j and make a new layer  and i disable the background the background still stays?

Can you be a little more specific?

I am going to guess that you did not unlock the background - press enter on that layer and press ok when the dialog box comes up...this will unlock that layer and then you can manipulate it anyway you see fit...

okay i go back to layers after i ctrl+click the path but when i hit ctrl+j nothing happens

Why is it that when I open up a picture, and I click the crop tool the only thing that comes up is the hand
