Neither our government, or the banks involved, have any real interest in taking into account what the democratic electorate of this country opines or desires.
Sorry, but there's the truth.
If we want things to change, we will all have to change them - not just expect the person whose name we put an X next to to represent our interests without our showing any interest in who they really are, and what they are willing to do for us and our constituency/country.
People are working harder around the world for less, and some are working less for more - something I've seen first hand. If you disagree, then why does Madonna have a greatest hits album, and so much money, when your average (more creative) pub musician is skint?
The bail-out packages will not affect the people paying for them for the better.
Does anyone really believe that now tax payers money is being invested into failing institutions, that those instituions are going to take on an anti-nepotistic, or even altruistic role?
Simple facts:
Economy is a value system, through which we value our goods/services against the goods/services of others.
I'm afraid the actual fact is that the illusion of these banks now being under our ownership is being perpetuated.
Most tax payers will see no significant profit from their money being stumped up to help save any financial institution that has shown - and continues to show - no interest in the livelihoods of those tax payers.
The amusing fact being, that we now own the banks who hold their profits and those of their customers in these tax havens! Lovin Mark's work - see u in the spring :D
As Mr Thomas beautifully once said, "We are the democratic process, and we should start behaving like it!" (paraphrased).

The value system, as it is, has failed greatly.
