Some photos of Simon Hickling's band, the DT's back in 1997 at 'Bob's Goodtime Blues' Station Tavern, London W10.

The soundtrack was recorded at Kelly's, Leamington Spa, May 1994, with legendary 'Mr G-String' fretless bass, Gorgeous Gary Rackham.

However - the band on the night was;

Simon 'Honeyboy' Hickling - Harp & Vox
'Big' Al Taylor - Guitar
'Tex' Comer - Bass
Mister Mac - Drums

This one's especially for my dad, Albert - who would shout 'encore' after the first number.....

Enjoy!

  • @warsinger42

I saw them at the Charloote several times, and a few times at Shearsby Bath.

£100 quid..where did you see it for sale at that price?

  • I used to see them around Leicester too ! The best version of BSA Rocket 3 I ever heard them do was at Thrapston Rugby club. It went on for ages ! I so wish I could hear them sing it again ! I saw the single for over a hundred quid! But it wouln't be as good as the Thrapston version.....

    I've got 2 singles..

Willy And The Hand Jive / RoadRunner..

    BSA Rocket III / Lonesome.

BSA Rocket III is a cardboard picture sleeve..on the back is a drawing of the band and the slogan..Shake With The DT's Rythm & Blues, ( Rythym..mis spelt ) it's signed by all the band.which at the time was

    SImon " Honeyboy " Hickling..Vocals and Harp

    Steve Walwyn..Guitar / Vocals

    Craig Rhind...Bass Guitar

    Chas Chaplin...Drums

I've also got a copy of an LP..Messin' With The Blues.

I can remember seeing them at the charlotte many times circa 1983/4/5. Their best track i can remember was BSA Rocket 3. I bought the single at one of the shows but do not have it any more. Would love to hear it again.

  • Me too. I think the (excellent) guitarist was Steve Walwyn, who then joined Dr Feelgood (& I believe is still with them).

  • I used to go and see The Dt's in Leicester back in the mid 80's...always did love their music...still got 1 of their albums which they sold at concerts..possibly the 1st they made.

Can't remember who was in the band apart from Honeyboy of course..think the guitarist was called Steve ..somebody.
