  • Of course Google could help you. Here's more: Alejandro Lichauco, is a well-known liberal—yet nationalist—columnist and author based in the Philippines. He is known as a strong proponent of nationalist economics. He is also the author of many books including Imperialism in the Philippines.

  • Someone else noticed the small population figure, see in the comments. But the interview was done in 1988 and the population for sixty million then. Too bad for the people of the Philippines that family planning is discouraged.

  • @19vrats89 The interview was done in 1988 for a documentary series that was broadcast on PBS in the States. I just googled population information and sixty million seems right for that year. It's too bad for the Philippines that family planning hasn't taken hold.

  • this is a video taken in the late 80s!!! thats more than 20 years ago. dont you notice his fashion and everything around him is 80s. Thats why he said 60 million.

  • @pinoyPhilosopher I guess ALEJANDRO LICHAUCO is one of the many chinese business men enjoying business in the Philippines like Lucio Tan. All those things he mentioned the Philippines cannot produce, simply because, since the period before Magellan was killed by Lapilapu, the chinese traders already supplied almost everything the filipinos needed. And it was sold cheaper because the chinese traders don't pay taxes. And most of their products are made of cheap materials.

  • It is just sad to realize that we really have a massive dependence on importation....i think it's a very difficult challenge for us to compete against those bigger players who have already established a larger progress like Japan and other countries
