As a space buff, I already would like this movie without the brilliant music, but this soundtrack is really something brilliant, and is distinctive enough that I remember the movie scenes that went with the music. I can basically listen to the music and watch the movie in my head! Thanks for uploading.

@MaryHaleyKelly same thing here...and i never cry! but this film does the trick.....

those people were HEROES. It makes me sad when i see the world has become like this nowadays...back then people had balls and hearts of iron... i would be damn proud to meet even one of those persons that were on the Apollo space program. REAL ASTRONAUTS and not some scientific geeks that go to space nowadays....

Watch Marilyn Lovell during this scene. Especially when Jim's voice finally comes in over the radio at 3:59 . That's emotive acting. I'm notoriously difficult to crack, but this scene always gets to me, and I've seen it 20+ times.

I cried so many times during the movie and even 10 years after watching it the first time I cry at the end ... I can't stop it, even now while writing and listening I'm crying
This music reminds me of hope lost and hope returned ... it reminds me of life ... thank you!

Walking on anoter world is a great accomplishment, although i think bringing back a stranded crew on a broken spaceship from deep space with almost no chance of survival around the moon and back safely while defying implaccible challenges and glitches along the way, is possibly mankind's greatest achievement.

@NCISMentalisTFormers Bush set the timetable. The shuttle program was due to be cancelled in 2010 long before Obama was elected.
-
After all the trouble they had on the mission, there could never be a place quite like home!

@diazarmy123 Because our country is so much in debt we cannot afford to keep such an expensive program that doesn't give money back in return. We need a president who will deal with the national debt if we're going to keep programs like that running. We need a president who actually takes action and says things like: hmmm... we're trillions in debt... maybe we shouldn't be funding abortions in other countries...
-
JUST OBAMA
-
@diazarmy123 Obama is the one who shut it down. Not Bush.
-
Every time I watch this I get all choked up and when the control room erupts in cheers I stand up and cheer!
-
Even when we all know how the movie ends, the mix of the tension, the drama and this beautiful soundtrack just brings me to tears. :')
-
@diazarmy123 for NASA maybe, but not for the private sector (businesses building spacecraft for tourism and exploration)
-
@diazarmy123 Nasa is still working on the James Webb Space telescope, they're still discovering new things from the voyager probes, they have exploratory sattelites on venus, the moon, mars, mercury and on earth, they're working on a probe to study Jupiter in depth, the new horizons probe is still en-route to pluto, MSL is set to launch later this year; the shuttle is too big and too expensive, and now that the ISS has been built, its not very useful to us. Its time to move on to better things.
-
@diazarmy123 Nasa =/= Shuttle Program. They are working on a crew vehicle; and it should be ready in no longer than eight years; though the youngest person to ever fly in space was a 28 year old Russian; and they were notorious for poor safety policies at that time. I don't think there's a single person on the ISS now that's under 40 years old; so things will be very different by the time you're old enough to even touch a space suit; let alone get in one.

Don't give up the hope my friend, the times of the Space Shuttle may be over, but the space programm in general is still up and running. Sure it is delayed by budget cuts and many other factors but they haven't given it up yet. If you keep up your dreams and hopes you could be amongst the first to fly the next gen of space craft in the 2020s. The stars are waiting for you!
PS: YOu could read it yourself. There is a Wikipedia article about the Constellation programm, it's in there.

It makes me cry that the space program is ending that even though im still pretty young age 14 i will never get the chance to fly a space shuttle or any of that stuff because the program is ending. Thats the only reason i was interested in school,to get a chance to be in the space program, to fly a space craft. My dreams are ruined now. Thanks a lot Bush and Obama.

Whats ironic, both films starred Kevin Bacon.

2 "alien" dislikes! -_-

"As for me, those 7 extraordinary days on Apollo 13 were my last in space. I catch myself sometimes looking up to the Moon, remembering the change of fortune in our long voyage, thinking of the thousands of people who worked to bring the three of us home. I look up to the Moon, and wonder, when will we be going back, and who will that be?"

Just..amazing!!!! AMAZING! Both movie and soundtracks are GREAT.
Hmm i am disappointed, i downloaded 're-entry and splashdown' from itunes, its great quality but the track starts at like 2:55 on this version, so i miss the whole dramatic music at the beginning :( where did you get this version from?
