Une collision qui révèle bien la tension entre les deux skippers pendant les phases finales !

  • Im not familiar with the rules of match racing but why would Ainslie bear away into Richard? Richard is ducking to avoid Ainslie who is in the right on Starboard, so why bear away onto him? It seems like Ainslie is trying to win by inflicting a penalty on Richard, that just doesn't really feel like a particularly nice way to win a race

  • Ben Ainslie is in the right. He is allowed to go down by a max. of 90 ° but needs to give Richard time to react ( 16.1) He was going down on him early enough. Richard on the other hand probably though Ainslie was going down by more than 90 °. Therefore he was holding to give the Penalty to Ainslie. Umpires decided in the favour of ainslie.

By the way: I expect the small collision to be plant, since it assures a penalty either way. That is Match Racing.

  • Well who is right here ? Ainslie has right of way and then violently changes course is he not then under an obligation to keep clear ?

  • holly mother of god ! …

who's this mathieu richard anyway ?…

it seems french are better in sailing alone and offshore races than in match racing

anyway I guess mathieu richard's memory will rewind this particular sequence for a long time !…
