From the days when the BBC had something to shout about, here's a special 'commercial' in the style of the 'What have the Romans ever given us...' scene from the 'Life Of Brian'. Set in a pub, it features Michael Horden behind the bar and sundry BBC personalities of the day (sports, radio, Blue Peter team etc.), plus Bob Geldof rattling his box. I wonder what a similar commercial made today would look like.

  • 16p a day. It's 40p a day now!

  • BBC kicked ass in the 80s!

  • if ther were fewer bbc channels we might get the variety of shows we got back then

  • Sir Patrick Moore playing Space Invaders...this is brilliant!

  • Patrick Moore looks the same now

  • Please can somebody upload the brilliantly funny Spitting Image sketch that spoofed this ad.

  • I'd almost prefer to see it re-broadcast exactly as it is

  • This is good, though I also do like the rebuttal to it that I saw on Spitting Image.

  • It is Ken Campbell. I wasn't aware he was dead.

  • That part's funny!
