AMON AMARTH: A bunch of retards with a cute name who chose to use and abuse only one color (orange) in their CD covers, to rape and trample the topic of heathenism by means of a mediocre musical performance of a pseudoagresive, melodic, not to mention already obsolete metal genre; factors which gave for the proliferation of a zillion of bands like them just to take away all virtue from the concept of VIKING METAL and changing it into their commercial circus for highschool nerds.

@DerAnstifter Kampfar is my favourite band, but you're an idiot if you actually believe everything you just said. Pseudo-agression? Really? Obviously the melody dampens it, but at the same time a lot of death falls on it's face by being overly dissonant and boring. Melodic death metal is hardly obsolete, and it was less obsolete in 98 when Golden Hall came out. How many FUCK YEAH VIKINGS MDM bands are huge popular? I can't think of any. @DerAnstifter Just because Amon Amarth is a Death Metal band with Viking themes, doesn't make them any less Viking. I might add, even, that some of the lyrics and stories are directly based on the poetry and sagas. You can make any over-opinionated comment about the band ("horrible guitar solo that made me want to puke"), but it won't make the band any less famous, nor you the opposite. Faroese, Norwegian, English. Like the tunes, take the stifter out of your mouth, and stfu, just my suggestion.

@666TheMetalmaniac666 Sorry, I don't do drugs. I do not like Amon Amarth, it's a fact. I can agree they DO have good songs, however the only decent song I like is Bleed for Ancient Gods, which I haven't listened to for some 10 years give or take. Anyways, that song has a horrible guitar solo that made me want to puke when I first listened to it. Tell me what your native language is. I speak German, Spanish, Italian, English and very little Russian. Take care.

The main reasons why a band would be real Viking metal is the fact they base their musical compositions (despite the fact they use electric guitars and stuff) , their lyrics, their voices at times; the same way the old norsemen used to do back in the centuries. Another good reason could be they resemble early bands that initiated the genre, such as Isengard (which is a project), Enslaved (Eld), etc.
