What brand do you use for the brushes and paint? and what types of brushes to you advise a beginner to own?

I use Filbert,Liner, 1 inch, 2inch, Palette Knife, Fan brush, brand name Princeton, Shipmate, the paint I use is Lukas Studio Oils, look in the description for my web address I have all the brushes you need available on my website Tvpainter.

How do u clean those wooden pallets

when I used them, I would scrape off the paint with a palette knife first, then use a paper towel dipped in paint thinner. (kinda messy but that is how I would do it) you can use freezer paper from wal-mart I use it often because it is so easy to clean up.

For the sky is it ever a good idea to go over it with a water brush to smooth/ even it out?

you can use a soft bristle brush if you have a heavy touch to blend the clouds.
