Except that you can do the taping much easier by putting both sides flat on the table and just sticking the tape over it, pushing it on the table so to speak, then slicing the edges of with a razor. (You don't have to use scissors that way.)

Bandsalat- A tape jam [German: band(tape)+ salat(salad)]
Coined by German engineers who worked on tape recorders, which were a new invention at the time. These machines were prone to jamming, and it often resulted in the tape making a mess all over the table, something which was often called a "tape salad".
