This video doesn't contain much text, only a view of life in the pack. Can you ID the wolf behavior, I'll give you a hint, here are some of the ethology terms related to this video: Stand Over, Over Mark, Rally Behavior, Threat Display, Growl, Chase, Roll on Back, Grab Bite, Wrestle, Pin, Head Shake, Submit, Multiple ear and tail postures, and Howl. If you are interested in learning more about wolf behavior, check out the Wolf Den Store at www.wolf.org, for an Interactive Ethogram DVD, that features these behaviors and more. For a real adventure, check out the wolf seminars at www.wolf.org, for Ethology and Wolf Research classes.

  • Was the gray female beginning labour or something? She seems to be fairly pregnant. Of course, I haven't studied wolves as in-depth as surely most of you guys have. She just seems to be acting similar to when my dog went into labour. She was kinda anxious and whiny all day before she finally had her pups at night. /Should probably read the other posts to see if anyone else has said this yet xD

  • @TerisKaminari all of the wolves at the International Wolf Center have been spayed/neutered.

  • These are captive wolves & as such much of their behaviour can be distorted or exagerated due to boredom, frustration, conditioned reflexes or the inability to escape conflict. Also they are unable to hunt which is extremly important for predators, not only psycologically for the wolves but also in the regulation of the hierachy. Add to this the reduced size of their territory & their inability to control events there in can & does lead to behaviour that is not seen in the wild.

  • At 00:58 I HEARD a wet wolf kiss. =D

  • hey dude if i were u i would take the 2 male wolfs

  • actually :() he is doing that cause its territory and think 2 males - male and female + but 3 males and 1 female leads to a big fight

  • @ogofukyorcelph Thank you but I am well aware of the dificulties of living near wolves. I also know what the chances of being attacked by a wolf pack is around the same as the chances of being eaten by a shark. I also know what the ratio of cattle and property lost to cyotes to that lost to wolves is 145 to 1. And btw, thanks for automatically assuming I'm from the city. I'm not. Go hate smeone else.

  • @blacktimberw Best comment from anyone regarding wolves. Waste of time really.
