Not really. You have Cohen that medal for the first time, with probably one of her better FS (only one mistake) and then you got Miki Ando, 4th in the senior debute.
And you got Arakawa, who is out of no where to win the world title.
I think that was when protocol judging was still prevalent. Considering that was her second year in Seniors, 8th wasn't that bad. But I agree, in a perfect world, this program, and the way she skated throughout that entire competition really deserved to place much higher.
that is one very strong program for an 8th place finish. it must have been a strong year. its true she has improved a lot since then but this program really wasnt far off the 09 world champs.
It seems she just keeps getting better and better. If she had more confidence in herself, I have no doubt she'll medal at 2010. I agree with mich1721, this is one of my favourite programs.

Rochette has the physique of a body-builder, good muscle tone. Even in this early footage you can see some of her definition.
She certainly is an athlete.

Marks ranging from 5.2-5.7 and 5.4-5.9
I miss the thrill of the perfect 6.0 - but the marking was a disgrace back then. If you weren't a big name, you didn't get any recognition.
And 2004 wasn't a great year for skating either. There was no real depth in the field. Slutskaya was out with severe illness, for example.

I agree, she is getting more and more consistent with each year, and she has a good chance at a medal this year and at the olympcs
