Ain't that bitch how battle just keeps going while you're browsing menu... One of many things i hate in this game.

It's wierd, I watch people do boss fights and notice they use their menus a lot - I rarely do that.

No, it stays the same. The main character gets a set of armor that changes his look on the second disc, but that's it. The only thing that change upon equip are weapons.
