June 3rd 2007 Students from the University of Wisconsin on a national Bus tour, titled: The Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights Movement 1950 - 1970: Exploring History and Current Consequences, visited Philadelphia - the city where the first public GAY RIGHTS demonstration was held on July 4th 1965 in front of Independence Hall.

It is really great to find out about history that you did not fully realize before. Yes heros they were and to this day are not fully recognized as real heros who started the modern gay rights movement. Thanks so much for your interest!

This is brainwash, opposing that gay is normal, which it isnt... and the people who are reenacting this who are not gay cannot say anything about this either, because you will then be called a freedom breaker or a lunatic for not saying its ok to be gay...... I dont judge, I just feel its wrong to let gays marry in my CHURCH, that mocks my GOD who clearly states that gay is a sin... gay people mock my faith and my GOD!!! Now if this countrys constitution was not built on Godly principles because it is suppose to be a country that believes in Jesus. Than I would agree that could not stop this but since it is than that why it is a problem.

You said interracial marriage was a civil rights violation but remember how heated the debate was over slavery and interracial marriage? The same arguments used today to define homosexuals as unclean and spiritually unequal and start defining this because of tradition - that is when I say foul.

Marriage has never been solely defined as man/woman only until recently.

Frankly I do not want to be married in your church, but I do want all the civil protections afforded to you via marriage to be provided to me and my domestic partner Eric. If your definition of marriage violates my vision and in turn violates the constitution regarding equal protection then marriage as it is defined today is in violation of my constitutional rights. If that is confirmed by the supreme court then either all marriage will be redefined as CIVIL UNIONS or marriage will be forced to include all LGBT people.

How is marriage not a civil right? We understand that from a christian conservative perspective that marriage is between a man and a woman. But Civil Rights are not Religious Rights.

Interracial marriage was a civil right because it was a color issue not a change of the core of marriage. Which are a holy vow a man and a woman, I am sorry you want to be something you want it to be.Well I will say this now if homosexual are not able to work live and not able to get provision then I will say their civil rights are being denied because of sexual preference and I think that is wrong, but it does not look like thats happening, I see homosexuals working everywhere.
