AccessIT Seniors Project was a 12 month computer training and support initiative which saw 20 seniors from within the City of Kingston receive reconditioned computers, broadband access, one on one home and class tuition and an IT on-call service. Key to the success of this project was the intergration of a social support program which assessedand coordinated each individuals support needs to enhance participation . The project was a partnership between City of Kingston's Chelsea Community Rewenal, Age and Disability Services, Libaries, AccessCare Southern and the Brotherhood of St Laurence. The project was funded by Department of Planning and Community Development. The students had no previous computer knowledge and have now learnt new ways to communicate with friends and family as well as ways to use online services and facilities to engage with wider communities.
