I go to Val Gardena every january! It's one of the most beautiful landscapes, if not THE most beautiful, of the alps and it's got some great slopes and terrain!

what are the advantages of this style as opposed to alpine downhill skiing?

During downhill telemark provides great feeling riding in deep, soft snow - way better than alpine style. Besides telemark gives uncomparable versatility in moving off-piste, walking, running and downhill.

Nice vid! Im in Val gardena right now telemarking.
Where in the system is it that you are skiing outside the slopes at around 2 min?
I have a question, do you use the "surf-technique" outside the slopes or just regular turns? Cuz ive been trying to learn the surf-technique but i could use some tips :)
Btw im 14, and Ive been skiing with telemark for maybe a total of 4 weeks. And i still think im better then you guys in the slope, haha.

It is Seceda, looking downhill it is placed to the left from the main piste.
I am not sure what do you mean by surf-technique, so most likely we do not use it :) Rather pressure the snow and reuse the power (pop-up) when it gives back.
Where I can read about surf-technique?
Hope you have a good time telemarking. Have fun :)

molto bello...pero fuori pista nn s dovrebbe tenere un po + il peso indietro?!? :):)

True, keeping weight a little bit backward probably would prevent most of those beautiful tipdives :)
