Curry is trying to make sense of the world, after her global warming nonsense crashes and burns in the face of reality...

when i remember correctly, the errorbars were in a very light gray, i think we dont see the errorbars do to a lack of contrast, i think she uses the proper graph incl. errorbars.

isn't it much more usefull for us laymen to have those experts debate about their findings and convince their collegues and form a concencus. like, look this are the points wich we mostly agree on, on those things we have found no common ground and need further research before we can come to a conclusion etc etc.its already hard enough for laymen to see if someone os an expert or not. mostly we dont even know what is this expert's field of expertise really?

i dont need a concencus about every detail, but surely about the main ponts of AGW, is it real, how much is it do to us and what should be done to mitigate it.

and the same goes for people in representative democracies. there its politicans that need this concencus. so they can make informed decisions on behalf of the people they represent.

are we suposed to first listen to Hansen, then to Lindzen, then to Trenberth and then to Svensmark and then decide ourself who of them is right?

she makes some really good points. but i totaly disagree with her getting rid of the concencus seeking approach. totally.

i am from a country that has Direct democracy, we have to vote on the measures we take to fight global warming. i need to know what science has found out about AGW. i dont have the time nor the knowledge to go true all those scientific studies from all those involved fields of science. for me its essential that the involved scientists come to concencus.

It's somewhat ironic that in a talk about hiding uncertainty, the speaker presents a graphic of reconstructed temperatures where the uncertainty bars have been edited out, presumably by the speaker, her collaborators, or by some non-scientific organ she has relied upon for the image. The graph appeared in the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC with the error bars included and the study's caveats reported, yet it is the IPCC she accuses of hiding the uncertainty. Curious.

Good talk Dr. Curry. I'm not in favor of scientists becoming activist in their field of study. Science suffers as a result. But activism allows the latitude of distortion and shading the truth. Can scientific truth turn that away?
