Carey Beebe demonstrating how to insert the harpsichord bridgepins.

The ø1mm brass bridgepins are inserted in the holes previously drilled in the 8´ bridge. A simple pushing tool made from a brass rod is used for convenient handling of the tiny pins: Their consistent projection above the bridge is determined by the depth of the hole drilled in the end of the rod. This tool is held at the same angle as the holes were drilled, perpendicular to the crown of the bridge. Finally, the tops of the pins are dressed flat with a coarse and then very fine file.
