I designed this tutorial to show people how to get Screengrab to work for Firefox, versions 7 and above. The person who designed it no longer maintains it and therefore will only work for versions 6 or below. Using this method will get it working, regardless of what version you are using.

  • I followed everything exactly how you did it in the tutorial and also your suggestion with changing the version numbers to "9.10.*" and trying to name it ".zip" but I still could not get it to work. I still get that the file is corrrupt. Help?

  • @GoogleIt023 If you've tried everything then I'm afraid I can't help you. I simply don't know what's causing the problem for you. Here are a couple of suggestions. Make sure you have the very latest version of Firefox (currently 8.0). When changing max versions, make sure to leave the star in and don't forget to save. When putting everything back in zip folder, make sure you paste the original name of the xpi file, followed by either .zip or .rar. Failing that dude, I have no idea. Sorry. : /

  • To everyone getting the corrupt file, I think I've found the solution. I tried installing Screengrab on my laptop using this method and it also said it was corrupt. What I did was increase the max version numbers. So instead of "7.8.*", I changed it to, "9.10.*" Also, when I put the newly-updated files back into their archive, instead of naming it ".rar", I named it ".zip" Try that guys and let me know if that helps. Also make sure you have the most up-to-date version of Firefox.

  • I had to change the numbers to 9.10. (running Firefox 8.0.1, so 7.8. said it wasn't compatible) and save it as a ZIP instead of a RAR, but it worked like a charm! Thanks. :)

  • @kiyogwil Thank You!

  • just to add to this, it shouldn't matter what version, as long as it is the EXACT version w/ a variable e.g. 8.0.* ( * being the variable). As for the issue of corruption: usually when converting the filetype (aka renaming) from .rar format the file becomes corrupt. When converting/rename it from .zip format however, the file should read properly. Simply do as the video states, but instead of using the .rar format, use .zip. You don't need a "higher version from your current version.

  • @ProperJock instead of changing the 3.6 to 7.8, i typed 8.0.1 (the current version of firefox) and that is how i got it to install. if i used anything less then 8.0.1 i got a firefox error that it couldn't install because it wasn't updated.

  • @vitaminB17 You've lost me! :S

  • current version of Firefox that is.
