DO NOT WATCH if you are too sensitive about TV broadcast use of "audio compression". PBS Programming. 2005 season opening concert. TV broadcasts run everything through an audio compressor according to FCC Regulations, which came about in attempt to equalize the dynamic range of regular programming and commercials and it also effects regular programming. To get the full dynamic range, you have to get a CD or DVD.

  • Creo que la interpretación de Rafael Kubelik a la música de Mahler es sencillamente

grandiosa, de las conducciones más logradas que he escuchado nunca.

  • @abenzable GOOGLE TRANSLATION: "I think the interpretation of Rafael Kubelik Mahler's music is simply great, the most successful lines I've ever heard."

  • Where was this hall? Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall? It sounds terrible and I don't think that's NYPO's problem.

  • @sinisa1223 Well... you don't expect PBS to be like Deutsche Gramaphon, do you? This is free!

  • @AlanHemenway i'm pretty sure that's the recordist's fault mostly. or youtube's fault for reducing quality. there's a lot of noise which they've gated on the quiet parts but not the rest...generally bad miccing i'd say too.

  • @jorgepeterbarton Again, I recorded this off PBS. TV broadcasts run everything through an audio compressor according to FCC Regulations, which came about in attempt to equalize the dynamic range of regular programming and commercials and it also effects regular programming. To get the full dynamic range, you have to get a CD or DVD.

  • This is so lame- shockingly bad even- after listening to his 9th or 10th. He was so much better in his dying years. Like a supernova.

  • Thank you very much for uploading this! I needed this very much to complete a very important essay on the analysis of Mahler's symphonies!

  • I've never seen Lorin Maazel wearing a beard !!

  • @jorgepeterbarton and jsut after i wrote that the track is distorting so there you go...

  • @sinisa1223 it's because of the soundmanagement I suppose. every ppp part is turned up to mp and every ff part is turned down to mf...

  • Amazing viola section solo around 51:00 somewhere haha, playing this in the ASYO (Atlanta youth symphony orchestra) VIOLAPOWER!!! ||3
