Note: This video has higher picture and sound quality than any previous uploads. Sadly, the close-up of Maxine's face as she lies dead in the morgue is not included in this video clip. I guess the editor felt a modified version would be more appropriate to younger viewers.

Note 2: This song is about a prostitute. The video was shot at Sydney's Kings Cross during the early 1980's. Everybody in this video is convincing except the dodgy detective at the end.

Was this video based on a real person (Maxine) and if so, was it news at the time? Obviously they'd have changed the name for the video but were there any news stories in the early 80's of "Kings Cross prostitute murdered" etc?

@english791 Recently an old interview (circa '83) with Sharon O'Neill was replayed on TV. In the interview Shazza speaks about a time she (lived?) in kings Cross and would notice the same street walker doing the rounds every night. It inspired her to write a song about her. I'll add at the end of this video when I get the interview.

@ msnadiak I don't think there is a moral. It's taboo and about uncovering something people don't like to talk about. It's also honoring somebody's life, saying that even though you chose to do something risky, you are still a person and still deserve to be talked about.
