Here are some things I noticed about the BF3 trailers that has not been pointed out yet in most analyst videos. I concentrate mostly on new effects that Frostbite 2.0 brings to the table. Dice is my favorite studio from now on. They are going to blow everyone away with the new engine, and I hope the game packs as much punch as the graphics :)

  • The first Part is an animation, Not gameplay, Therefore its not frostbite 2, In gameplay action.

  • @SuperMutantSpaceCat everything in this video is ingame(in-engine). It is still rendered the same way gameplay is. It is not a CG pre animated clip if that's what you think. It is a cinematic animation in the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

If you search frostbite 2.0 on google for info or check the leaked video from GDC, you will see that the missile smoke and lightening of smoke(particle lightening) is in fact ingame as a feature of Frostbite 2.0.

  • Most of the things shown here can also be found in many games. Let's take Halo Reach.

It has an epic amount of particles aswell, most particles being light sources themselves and are lit by others, they cast shadows on the ground and models... and there are tank shells ejected, comes with smoke and shadows, oh, and trees are affected by explosions aswell...

There's a lot of detail in many games today, just open your eyes.

  • @Ahlant Particles in Halo Reach do not cast shadows, (you don't see the shadow of smoke on the ground).

BF3 is the first video game ever that features that. Anything in Halo Reach that you think are particles that emit light is really just particles with a light source connected to it.

I'm sorry but Halo Reach may be detailed as well, but no way near BF3.

Halo Reach is just modelled better than it's prequels and the same engine is upgraded.

Frostbite 2.0 is a whole new engine. real next gen!

  • is this only for pc or does the xbox benefit from this SICK engine

  • @points2shopPROOF it's for PC, 360 and PS3. PC might look the best, but it will probably be one of the best looking games on console so far. 360/PS3 will have 24 player multiplayer(so far) and PC will have 64.

I'm not sure if the special effects like particle smoke, particle shadows etc will be on the consoles, but there will probably be something similar if not the same effect. Textures are slightly lower resolution than PC too.

It was shown on PS3 last night at "LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON"

  • HOLY CRAP! This is almost as good as cryengine 3!

  • the particles are not lit, smoke from the explosions is not apart of the engine, the game has no real sun only lens glare, high detailed textures* not models, scripted tree movement it was done real time in crysis 1 (a 2007 game), nothing shown in this game is new all that is single player 95% of it is scripted that smoke you see and mountains are 2d and the detail far away is so bad that's how you get high view distances, cryengine 3 can do all this way better.

  • I just got this game n I'm using a i5 2500k 8gb ram and ati r6870 froz3 and it runs perfect lol is so real

  • Amazing cant wait till I have this game

  • all games should be made on the frostbite engine!!!!!

  • Thanks for uploading! Now i just see how good this engine is.

  • Thank god this is the only game whose company cares about PC players.

  • 0:53 looks just like real life damn!!
