  • I was right: the glass arrow head is very pretty. And probably scary sharp.

You say glass is easy to knap. If I haven't done any knapping before, would I be smart to start with glass, and later move to flint?

  • smart smart redneck!!! ~_~ *no i dont hate rednecks cus im a redneck also!!!* ^_^

  • TV glass, Table top Glass, go to the recycler and they have huge bins of glass and they hardly give a s#!+ if you remove glass. Cobalt is pretty, but prone to brittleness, colored glass, Save ANY red glass you find, its gots the gold in it! bring gloves or bandaids!

  • @robcas631 yeah, they said that it isnt impossible to tell the difference but that it is very very difficult, because you cant carbon date a piece of flint shard and find out when it was knapped, the only way is to asses technique and compare to know techniques from different time periods,

  • @spr00sem00se really?

  • I recently found an Indian game ball, and a piece of pottery in a Nebraska creek. I think it was Yankee Creek or Big Muddy. Anyone know where that's at?

  • @SailorBarsoom Yep glass cuts as good as fobsidian, chert, agate, jasper and calcedony.

  • @robcas631

Anybody who's ever cut himself on a piece of broken glass knows there's nothing sharper. Someday there will be a material as sharp as glass and as durable as steel, but until then, I'm not surprised that some surgeons are switching over to the obsidian.

And obsidian just has that shiny black look to it.

  • So you used a wide nap then sharpened it for fine tuning? Cool.

  • @SailorBarsoom There are surgeons that have adopted obsidian scalpels over mainstream metal ones because they are far sharper.

  • Where did you learn this?

  • "Yeah well i got this simple copper billet here..." 2 minutes later "...here i have this plastic handle with this adjustable copper nail on it... " and "this copper pipe and this grinding wheel and this leather and some thick leather" .. really don't have much tools with me...
