Cosa ce" con il tempo? E" troppo lento. Si puo morire in primo atto. Hanno fatto tutto scifo, escluso canto dei cantatori/ Jonas e"bravo, come sempre/

I saw Christine Schafer sing Gretel at the Met a few seasons ago and was instantly captivated by her voice and presence. Since then I have been a true fan, collected several of her recordings and videos. Regarding this production of Traviata, it again baffles me why directors with such bad ideas find jobs with major opera houses.

@MusicalArtists symbolically this shows that Violetta is not really a ... bourgeois kinda woman, but a prostitute so Alfredo has to wait for his turn.

@piasecznik I think, he is more excited! (It's his first time: love, parties and everything). All my friends like this production and I like modern productions too, but I don't like this one, I can't help myself.

@blackkat005 Those are the claim-check numbers for their coats.

excuse my ignorance... what do the numbers represent???

I like the singing, but I don't really understand why they had to portray Alfredo as mentally deficient.

Bad, REALLY BAD interpretation...
such a powerful beautiful singer and actress

I find Christine Schafer really exciting and attractive with her childish face, with her dress and last but never never the least with her extraordinary voice. The localization and modernization of the libretto is director's choice and we should discuss this, but the music... the music is supreme!
