sublime, mighty mighty boss tones, and bands like that are ska. ska is reggae sped up, and ska also came from Africans which is just commom scene. this music is just indie, pop very influenced by african rhythms and beats. if you google "Vampire Weekend, African music", you can find out. also just because ezra is romanian doesnt mean he wont go to columbia university and play african music.
