National TV have delivered a platinum procession of clever clay transitions in their American Express commercial for Ogilvy London. The films premise is that the new card gives you 5% cashback whenever you spend and through claymation we get to see some of the nice things that you could possibly spend that cash on. Or is it claymation? The Not To Scale and National TV production team soon established that trying to do these transitions in camera would leave both Agency and Client little room for alterations so the technical team set about finding the best way to do this in Maya. Getting the little imperfections and thumbprints into the playdoh and the matt lighting of the clay was key to providing the did they or didnt they? factor and Nationals crack team managed this with fantastic results. The film received top spot on Motionographer upon the week of release.
