Anxiety Relief Solutions
Comments in video from article by anxiety coach and author Rich Presta:
Those with a fear of flying may be concerned about "air pockets".
Air pockets are about as real as the tooth fairy!
There is no place in the sky that is a "pocket" without air.
Commercial airplanes are meant to withstand far more turbulence than you would ever experience on a normal flight... Turbulence is far more an annoyance than a danger.
Even without engines, a plane can glide for a very long time, up to 100 miles from cruise altitude.
Planes simply don't "fall", in fact, gliding without engine power on landing is quite common in order to save fuel.

@Knightsairsoftteam didnt everyone on flight 1549 survive? the plane lost all power and the captain was able to GLIDE the plane to a safe landing spot. what crashes are you talking about in specific? if you're talking about something you saw on the news, the news only shows the extreme things. a pilot loses both engines and flies and lands.... thats boring to them.

If commercial airplanes can glide an average of 100 miles, how come crashes usually always kill everyone inside?

Really ... ? Because on all the jets i flew (BAe-146, DC-8-73/63/57, L-1011 and B747-400) we planned all descents at flight idle, and obtained a 'glide' of 1 nm forward for every 3,000' of altitude lost - that's a glide ratio of about 2:1.
In recent years, the increase in traffic has made sustaining this 'glide' difficult due congestion, but even in the 1990s, we were frequently able to delay power up on the approach until 1,500 AAL, after landing checks were complete.
