As the House considers imposing another layer of big-government bureaucracy on America's financial sector, Congressman Don Manzullo (R-IL) told Treasury Secretary Geithner that federal regulators already had the authority to crack down on risky mortgages years ago but failed to act. The government needs to better enforce the regulations it has to prevent further financial woes, not create new levels of burdensome bureaucracy, Manzullo said during his testimony before the House Financial Services Committee.
As always, well done, Rep Manzullo. I don't think I've ever seen Geithner give a straight answer. Something is fishy about the Fed. It needs to be audited. They definitely shouldn't be given more authority until after the audit, and associated audit findings are published and scrutinized.

Thank God for someone in DC who actually "represents" the people!
