Nathan is getting an occupational therapy. He had a right head injury when he was 5 month old. No surgery was required at the time. The injury weakened his left arm/hand and leg/foot movement. This is first occupational therapy after he is discharged from hospital. The occupational therapist from Children's hospital suggested me to take video, so we can repeat what we have done in the session. Thankfully, or the ability of infant occupational therapist, he did not disliked any of therapies that he has done on the first session here. He, though, gets fuzzier time to time later till today.
The therapy here to give him strength not only left arm and leg, but also right side for 6 month old boy.

  • Make it into a game. Maybe he'll be more cooperative if he thinks it's all nothing but play even though Mommy & Daddy realize it's therapy & it's for the kid's own good. Maybe that'll work.

Although some of the exercises that PTs and OTs do with babies are the same, an OTs goal is to get the baby so that they can function age-appropriately. This includes skills such as eating and learning, and eventually becoming more independent in taking care of themselves as they grow up. Sometimes a baby cannot reach these goals until their muscle function improves, so OTs can work on that too. I hope that helps!
