Lillian Boutté is a charismatic and loving singer who was nominated "New Orleans Musical Ambassador" in 1986, godmother of the S.O.S. New Orleans Heritage Fund and winner of the Ascona Jazz Award 2006.
Altruism has been her distinguishing trait since as early as her childhood. Her biggest dream has always been to bring her hometown music to every corner of the world, to convey those marvelous sensations of joy, typical of New Orleans.
With a musical repertoire that ranges from jazz to pop, from blues to gospel and soul, Lillian Boutté will be at the 27th edition of JazzAscona with a spicy program. More specifically, she will be drawing on songs by Blue Lu Barker, an unforgettable voice of New Orleans jazz who died in 1998.
She will be accompanied in her performance by the "Gumbo Zaire": guitarist Denny Ilett, pianist Phil Parnell, bassist Andy Crowdy, and drummer Daisy Palmer.
