Maybe I can clear up any confusion: In the beginning, the lone instrument playing is a clarinet. Then at 1:07 where the children start singing, the clarinet is joined by a flute and some percussion. So if you want to know what a flute really sounds like to this song, listen to it from 1:07 on. :-)
