My dog also named Beau, a Bichon, got the same front foot taken off by a German Shepherd this week. I hope he will be able to move like your dog once he heals.

i"m so sorry to hear about your pets. I'm so torn about my dog. She is a retriever/husky mix just 11. They think she has chondrosarcoma but not 100 % sure that there isn't osteosarcoma. She is sched for rt rear amputation in 2 days. Its very high in the leg near the pelvis. I hope I"m making the right decision . I'm so upset . I don't want to see her all depressed . If anyone has any more comments please let me know. I don't like the fact of not knowing if the cancer will return or spread

So sorry to hear...Just got the msg..my little girl died during the surgery...almost as hard as when a relative passes.....Thanks for the reply.

Sorry to have to give bad news but Leo's cancer took his life in January of this year. In one months time, the osteosarcoma spread rapidly into his lungs. We miss him dearly and will always.
I wish you as much time with your labrador as possible. It is unfortunate that dogs are limited in their stay with us - our attachments to them last far longer.

Hi, hope you don't mind...Saw your post and was wondering how your dog is doing or, if he is recovered, did following the amputation. My 9 year old lab has a tumor the size of a softball on her right rear leg and is scheduled for amputation tomorrow morning. She still is an amazing girl and as long as the recovery period isn't too traumatic, I think it's worth a shot to give her another year or two(fingers crossed).

Our dog and family member Leo just had his rear right leg amputated due to osteosarcoma. Vet said no chemo was necessary at this point. However, after I saw your comment concerning the short time that Beau lived after the surgery I am apprehensive about his cancer coming back again.
You loved your dog ... its obvious ... thank you for sharing the video.
And concerning pestapocalypse's comment ... his/her name says it all!
What do you care if people with the means are trying to save their pets lives??? Humans can get all the medical help they want/need/can afford. So what do you care??? I believe that some dogs survival is more is import that some peoples. Get a life and stay off Beau's video site... You are as cool as cancer

Beau had his leg amputated just before Christmas of 2006, and then he went through a full Chemotherapy regimen starting Jan. 3 and finished mid March. In mid September of 2007 I took him to the vet and we discovered a large tumor in his abdomen. I put him down Oct. 2nd of 2007. I miss him everyday

Beau is so beautiful. My boy, Malcolm, had is right front leg amputated due to osteosarcoma. He was a great pyrenees and he recovered fully... like he was born 3 legged. All my best to you and Beau...

I appreciate the well wishes. It has been 9 months since we realized his cancer, and he is doing great. I will have to add a more recent video of him and his foolery. I saw your tribute video and it makes you appreciate the time you have with them.
