Riding home from Whitelees windfarm trails Clarkston Toll 4pm 18/09/09 & then.....well speaks for itself really......

By posting this video Im merely showing that accidents can be prevented by being aware of cyclist & other vehicles. Im no way slandering the driver in this incident. The driver claimed responsibility & we are both dealing with this amicably. The use of comedy sound effects is to bring some fun into what could have been a very bad accident. By posted this I do not want to be seen as flaunting or being proud of my crash, but more that by the use of modern media we can bring attention to everyday life & in this being road cycling accidents.
Highway code, section 163:
"Stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left"

  • You were overtaking on the inside.

  • hmmmmm really!!!!

  • Which he was allowed to do. Highway code, section 163:

"Stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left"

  • Nice one awsummoner thanks for doin the homework on that one Im now wearin a smug grin which is better than the wing mirror cod piece I was wearing that day.

  • Errr ... you were undertaking, it's a slow moving traffic line that you were going past.

If you look carefully, you'll see the signal is well in advance of you! simultaneous? check again mate.

You were going to fast and were not paying attention, it's guys like you that make me sure that cyclist should be insured for damage they cause.

  • Yes I have very good slow-mo software this car has no power steering one pulse on the indicator and the wheel is turning hence simultaneous, she said so herself. That aside if she used her mirror she would have seen me and waited unless you are accusing her of attempted murder. The fact you argue this point & played the insurance card on this makes me sure that you dislike cyclists I hear this all the time.Buses hate cars, cars hate bikes....Life on the road!!

  • Cyclists are of course uninsured................

  • shit man! what a idiot in that car :D

  • I'm not trying to be critical, but the traffic was really only one lane, as the inside lane was parked cars. I know the area, as I live nearby. If the police would enforce the parking rules here, there would be less of a problem. I like to cycle on the small roads up to Eaglesham, and around. Hpe you were not hurt.

  • in fairness you were undertaking, but as you said, the driver signalled way too late and didn't check their mirrors, i think the blame can be laid on either side. I almost got hit a couple of times on my commute home the other day, one of them was my fault, wrong lane (the markings had rubbed off) and the other time the driver was just an arsehole trying to overtake me leaving me no room and running me off the road.

  • Finally, a wee bit of an education for you... if you are pulling out of a line of traffic, you start signalling and check your mirrors making sure there is a break in the traffic and your way is clear. If a car was coming you wouldn't just pull out in front of it, likewise with a cyclist. Now I suggest you get off of youtube and go and read up on the rest of your highway code.

  • Oh my God. I'm really hoping that you are not a driver, because if you are the roads are a far more dangerous place. The bike is not undertaking, cyclists have to cycle on the left hand side of traffic. The signal is not well in advance at all - if you're seeing flashing lights early on then I suggest you go get your eyes checked.
