I employ my limited chops in showing the pedal worthy VHT Special 6 through a Warehouse Guitar Speakers Green Beret. Moderate volume.

  • The amp, if I remember correctly has the ability to switch between 6V6, 6L6, EL34 and other 8 pin power tubes. I used all of those plus others. Notably a 6K6 which is around 2.5 maxed. It still gets loud!

  • You don't have to rebias this amp for any tube changes. I have checked with this company and they say no... not needed. Rebiasing is only needed at 15 watts and above. I asked the top amp tech in Nashville about that one as well and it was confirmed. This amp is amazingly versatile. I personally like 5751's in it. You get the big EL34 kind of sound be much more balanced sounding tonally.

  • This amp usually runs on a 6V6. When you replaced this with an EL-34, did you rebias or just stick the tube in there?
