  • There's talk of the new Star Trek movies bringing Khan back.

As much as I love the character no-one will ever come close to what Ricardo did.

This was the best of all the Star Trek movies because of him.

  • Requiescat In Pace, Ricardo....."Bravo Captain!..you have your First Officer, Mr. Spock here, pry and ask questions, while you sit back quietly and look for weakness"..."Stay..go....but do it because YOU WANT TO DO IT!!"..."This IS Set-Alpha VI"..His episode on Star Trek was the PREMIER eposode, so much so, that it was made into a movie later. This honorable man was also a devout Catholic and an advocate for the Virgen de Gaudaloupe. His life was the pinnacle of Mexican American culture. Bravo!

  • @SFFOOL76 I sadly disagree with you; Shatner tries to take a great shat upon the character of Khan by acting almost bored with him-no great threat.

I don't know if Shatner screwed this up on purpose or just his bad acting along with bad script writing-the movie was not half as great as the series episode.

  • this is fuckin youtube, not phototube

  • Khan was an interesting character. In some ways he had abilities a normal human lacks, but I can see in Montalban's portrayal of him how frustrated and unhappy he was at a certain level, despite the 'confidence' and drivel; the root cause of which he didn't understand how to apply knowledge in building a happy heart.

  • @eric090909

Totally agreed, he out shines Shatner in Star Trek 2. I watched it a few years ago and never realized how brilliant Ricardo Montalban was (I hadn't seen the movie since I was a kid).

  • @Conan568 : Well......we thought the same of Jack Nichelson's performance as the Joke in the 1990 Batman film. Then Heath Ledger came along and knocked it out of the park. I would agree that is would be VERY difficult to find someone whom could give this role justice based on the brilliant performance of Ricardo, but it's not impossible. I personally would like to see either a movie or a TV series dedicated to explaining the Eugenics Wars of which gave birth to Khan Noonien Singh.

  • No it's the soundtrack from ST II Wrath of Khan composed by James Horner.

  • Predator soundtrack used here??!

  • JJ Abrams has hinted that Khan may be the villain of the sequel for his relaunch of the series. He stated that since the entire history has been rewritten that it is therefore possible that Khan is "Still out there" and that Khan and Kirk are "destined to cross paths." Would be awesome to see, but truly no one can replace Ricardo. And who else is going to shout "KHAAAAAN!" like Shatner?

  • "Ahhh, Kirk; my old friend. Do you know the Klingon Proverb that tells us "Revenge is a dish that is best served cold"? it is VERY COLD...in space."

    RIP Ricardo Maltaban.
