  • ahh James Mason again did he ever deliver a line that was not enjoyable nobody even remotely like him left alas alas too bad what stupid dwarfs they have now to deliver the lines of movies

  • @doctornoooo That is so true, what's the word for it? the lowest common denominator? That is where we are now.

  • The book is a great work in that it makes a profoundly unsympathetic character compelling enough to follow to the end, which is different, but I won't spoil it for u.The movie is excellent, and follow the big events of the book, but produces probably thought a more faithful version of Stachel would sour audiances on him.

  • @cosmicdingo The way you make Stachel sound in the book is of a Herman Goering type character, a ruthless WW1 Pilot who climbed the Nazi Hierarchy and became addicted to food, drugs, corruption.

  • @valhala56 In many ways that is a prescient observation; all those guys with the "vons" in their names that hated Stachel would later be senior officers in the WW2 Luftwaffe as career and professional military men, Stachel, on the other hand, would have immediately gravitated to being a real NAZI.

  • @SatchmoSings If Stachel would have yeah, I could see that. Hermann GÖring type, maybe not becoming the drug addicted pig Goering was, although both were quite the wits with Stachel haveing a flair for dramatics and irony.

  • This is what heros need, im training the younger generation odf australia, all i get are surfers or beachcombers, they come to cold cold canberra and cry for thier home towns, i make them serve ,and i make them fit the role an officer has to fill.I love them, but ill waste them all,for the greater good of Aus.

  • Stachel ist nicht nur ein held, er ist auch ein knusspriges critter. Stehen auf Katie! werden we'l spat zum Mittagessen! Schweinebraten fur jedem?

  • Das Offizerkorps muss um jeden preis zu uberleben!

  • Stachel Ihre arme Hund! Sind sind nicht nur Haufig wie Dreck! Jetzt sie Sie nur ein Raucher Loch in den Boden!

  • Stachel was human, nothing more, nothing less, all humans are evil. Herr Stachel proved it! Just as Klugermann, The General and his nymphomaniac wife proved that all humans are evil. Just poor pathetic creatures struggling to maintain the illusion of goodness.

  • @niflap Not for very long though. I was married to a woman like this. Believe me, They must have their variety!!!

  • @doctornoooo As an actor James Mason was a genius!! He understood history.

  • I've heard pilots criticize this scene because he seemed to take longer to come down after the midair breakup than he took to reach the height he fell to his death from. My beef against that is, he was no longer doing low level passes, & even in the movie his climb to altitude seemed to be visually edited. That could allow a great enough height. I think the critics were going by the sound editing, which seemed to be unedited. Death plunge lasted about 36 seconds.
