A: Russian. But I've lived in California since I was six years old. My parents really insisted that I continue with my Russian.

Q: Are you a qualified teacher?
A: Absolutely not. There are a bunch of great Russian teachers on YouTube, though, that will break this down more for you.

Q: Why is this so fast?
A: That's just the style of the videos. If you watch it once, you certainly won't learn anything. It's meant to be watched many times, with pauses to read the writing.

I've always wondered, what's the point of asking "Do you speak English?" NOT in English? :-)

So, don't bother about learning the phrase "Вы говорите по-английски?" Just find a person who actually speaks English, It's no problem in major Russian cities now. Try youths and kids - they are more likely to be English speakers (and they won't turn you in as a foreign spy, even if you are the one :-)

@Menvirio in my opinion it's more polite and shows respect, i.e. the effort of willing to get to know the local language and their people. asking in english i would consider as harsh
