Just my opinion, but there's something lacking in a lot of the "new" music I hear.Is it a conspiracy by the record companies or bands who want to be followers of trends, like fashion etc.??

  • They need to loosen up and get down - into some JAAZZZ. By the way please make a video on the subject: WAS HENDRIX A JAZZ MAN?

  • @jmsbk12345 Ha ha...At least if "they" understood the real basics of jazz, then

the newer music might be more melodic and interesting...

    The Beatles instinctively new this....

    PS...Hendrix was into jazz.......

  • MRYong24 and all...NO..Not stoned..Just relaxed!!

Do I look stoned? Is that it??? I've had this comment before.."Outside the box" is what I try to be..Unless you consider my car a type of BOX !!

I say....THINK...but not so much that you freak yourself out!! Trust me on this ;)

  • I wish I knew more about older music.

Psychadelic Rock sounds interesting, but I know nothing about it.

    There is nothing good nowadays.

  • Well..Pscheledia may not be the best alternative, but the early to mid 70's offers lots of quality pop stuff..In all genres, not just DISCO. Disco gave the 70's a bad rep. From Yes to King Crimson, Floyd, Supertramp and Steely dan, to James Taylor ,CSNY, Joni Mitchell...The list goes on. She got very jazzy and soulful. (Same with Steely Dan) I think pop music peaked in the 70's.

This should be some fodder for the nay sayers!!

Come and get me. Challenge me. Challenge your ears!!

  • I don't know whether you are on Facebook or not but I started a topic on 'whether Hendrix was a jazz man'. I personally believe he had many jazz sensiblities in his playing and it indeed opened up much very interesting discussion. So if you go onto Facebook and click on the 'All of you who love jazz' board you can take it from there. How about a video on the fastest butterflies in the world? Take care, John.

  • I agree with you completely. Bring keyboards back into music! Prog rules!

  • Hey!I`m also in a band and going into Year 8 (Grade 9 in US).How did you get your first gig?and do you have any tips on...being in a band?

    Thanks,Dominic Johnson (the Controversials.)

  • I understand the point your making about all of the bands that just want to sound like other bands. What happend to developing your own unique sound instead of copying someone else's.
