Sea surface salinity has a massive influence on Earth's climate. With Aquarius, scientists will have a new way to measure that influence in a consistent way. With its unprecedented accurate and consistent salinity measurements, Aquarius will help climate modelers to better understand the ocean-atmosphere processes that are changing Earth's climate.

  • KEEP INNOVATION AND SCIENCE SPENDING!

  • @Hexpigge Perhaps its people wit 2 computers who say soo and still not get it! Haha (just my humor)

  • @ReasonSharp I think the salinty has effects on the gulf stream as it changes the density of water, we know that the gulf stream is the reason the u.k and parts of europe are kept relativatly warm during winter, when compared to parts of the world which are on the same or near the same latitude to that of the uk. Fresh water could distrupt the flow of the gulf stream and plunge parts of the world into subzero temperatures. i dont study geography so i may be wrong please let me know if i am !

  • Salinity? I thought we are still having trouble understanding how major factors affect the Earth's climate. I don't know the theory, but ocean salinity seems minor in comparison to, say, CO2 levels, storms, eruptions, solar cycles, etc. Can anyone explain how salinity affects climate?
