The wife about whom we know the least is Fanny Alger, Joseph’s first plural wife. He came to know her in early 1833 when she stayed at the Smith home as a house-assistant of sorts to Emma (such work was common for young women at the time). There are no first-hand accounts of their relationship (from Joseph or Fanny), nor are there second-hand accounts (from Emma or Fanny’s family). All that we do have is third hand accounts, most of them written many years after the events.

I have long since learned to leave all with [God], who knoweth better than ourselves what will make us happy... I was sealed to the Prophet of God will not fail & I would not have the chain broken for I have had a view of the principle of eternal salvation & the perfect union which this sealing power will bring to the human family & with the help of our Heavenly Father I am determined to so live that I can claim those promises (Holzapfel, 487). The Tanners made great mileage out of Joseph Smith’s marriage to his youngest wife, Helen Mar Kimball. However, they failed to mention that I wrote that there is absolutely no evidence that there was any sexuality in the marriage, and I suggest that, following later practice in Utah, there may have been no sexuality (p. 638). All the evidence points to this marriage as a primarily dynastic marriage.
In other words, polygamous marriages often had other purposes than procreation

“Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.”
― Joseph Smith Jr.

“I am a lover of the cause of Christ and of virtue, chastity, and an upright, steady course of conduct and a holy walk. I despise a hypocrite or a covenant breaker. I judge them not; God shall judge them according to their works. I am a lover even of mine enemies, for an enemy seeketh to destroy openly. I can pray for those who despitefully use and persecute me, but for all I cannot hope.”
― Joseph Smith Jr.

“You don't know me; you never knew my heart. No man knows my history. I cannot tell it: I shall never undertake it. I don't blame any one for not believing my history. If I had not experienced what I have, I would not have believed it myself. I never did harm any man since I was born in the world. My voice is always for peace.”
― Joseph Smith Jr.

careful , if you insult the way they believe they will cut your head off... OH WAIT THATS MUSLIMS! LOL
Use names of Abraham and other prophets to illustrate or explain the shamelessness of polygamy is very absurd! Solomon was wicked and God did not condone their sexual perversions with hundreds of wanton women. Polygamy was tolerated by God at some times and then God no longer tolerated. Joseph Smith was a big bastard who took advantage of women of all ages and even Women married to satisfy their sexual appetites! Today he'd be pedophile and arrested!

@arabe45 LOW, YOU Have given know facts here and Joseph is not here to defend himself of the likes of you but I will. Polygamy was not illegal during Josephs time, stories of him in polygamy are mostly stories told 3rd and 4th hand.
He wanted to bring families toewther and relationships were Non-Conjucal. Nor was he a bastard, he was born into wedlock. When yo make an ignorant accusation get it right. If he had so many woman where are the grandchildren? One line and only one line.
