Woman Death, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

(www.qpnn.tv) A surveillance video of a woman who would later die in police custody at the Phoenix airport shows her running through the terminal, bowing abruptly as she appeared to scream as police officers arrest her.

The video was released Thursday and shows Carol Anne Gotbaum, who by this point had her hands cuffed behind her back. Police said she was shackled a bench and left her alone in a holding room where she was later found unconscious and not breathing with the chain from the shackle pulled against the front of her neck. Authorities are investigating the death.

The video didn't contain audio, and Gotbaum was a considerable distance from the camera throughout most of the footage. (source AP)

I think it's sad that this occured. It is a shame this woman died. However I do not think the police should be blamed. She was mentally unstable, they couldn't have know that. They saw a woman acting completely out of line, they did their job. Airports are on high alert. It is not the job of police to determine who needs "compassion." If she needed special care - where was her family? Not blaming the husband - but why did he let her go alone if he new she was suicidal? SAD

This woman was murdered while in a security holding cell, while her hands were handcuffed behind her back. The official lies were that she strangled herself with her handcuffs (while her hands were handcuffed behind her back!!) This young woman WAS a law-abiding mother of two young children.
