the deficit and debt are not caused by social spending. the US spends about 7% of their GDP on social spending, Canada spends 8%, Australia spends 8%. both countries have a much better fiscal situation then the America, AND they have universal AKA socialized healthcare. The first two things that should be done are cut defense/war spending and raise corporate taxes and taxes on the rich.
