Doing the pre-flight inspection on the Piper Arrow (N9375N) at North Central Airport in Rhode Island before my seventh flying lesson. The Instructor was Mike Danis from the Lincoln Flight Center. We took the Arrow for this lesson because the Piper Warrior was hangered with an alternator problem. The Arrow is a complex airplane with retractable gear and variable pitch propeller and was too complex for me at this stage of my training.

  • Cool vid..How much did it cost you for the PPL there in Rhode Island?I'm looking into getting mine here soon and they were asking around 9Gs.

  • You don't need a medical or written exam to log training time. you need medical to solo/act as PIC and the written taken before your practical test. FAR 61.23 & 61.83 go into detail about this. Anyway, good luck with your training and I hope you enjoy flying the arrow. It's a fun plane!

  • That is simply not true. I just got my class 3 Medical on Monday, and have logged 35 hours with a CFI towards my license. My checkride is scheduled for the first week of September. Any hours you log prior to obtaining your medical count towards your license. Learn to facts before opening your mouth.

  • ummm.... hours and training still counts if even if u dont have a 3rd class medical...or student certificate.... or passed a written.... you do have to have the medical and student certificate in order for you to solo....but as long as u are with a cfi, you dont have to have any of it and it will still count for training and hours....you dont even have to do the written to solo

  • Sorry buddy, that is a load of crap. Every single hour logged counts towards your certificate. Doesn't matter if you are 15 or have no medical, which acts as your student pilot license. I started flying when I was 14 (20 now) and it definitely was not a waste of money. Experience is what counts.

  • N2064DI, what the hell are you talking about? Hours is hours, im pretty sure for my private i logged all those hours before getting, maybe not as PIC (unless solo), but still logged nonetheless. The FAA is asking 40 hours minimum, so he isnt wasting his time.

  • Buddy I'm sorry to break it to you but currently you are wasting your time and money (unless you are just taking these as joyrides) your hours and training only starts counting after you have gone through you 3 class medical and received a Student certificate , and passed your written exam at 15.
