i agree with you in that comment however, have you considered also problems of recording, or perhaps Damrau is too close to the microphone or recording source. Eventhough i understand why do u mean I don´t think it´s thick voice or too much air.

Damrau, i love you!!!

Felicity Lott is one to look up in this piece from Covent Garden i believe ?

I really really love Diana but I think she's just a little dark for Sophie, although her piano high notes are gorgeous. I prefere Barbara Bonney and Anne Sophie von Otter doing this duet personally, although this one is quite beautiful too.

So it's a class of genius...... The problem is what will you do during the 3rd year!!!!!!

You'll make me blush... lol
It was the same exam the teacher had used for her students of 3rd year... Nearly all the class wanted to kill her lol

Nothing is too difficult for Lilith!!!

Oh, thanks then xD Btw, my Italian exam was horribly difficult... :S
DiDonato and Damrau's voices have similar color. I regret though that at 2:36 - 2:57 Damrau had very poor breathing, and pinched high notes. It kind of wrecked the interpretation. And her voice is not at all crystalline... a bit thick and airy--not becoming of a Sophie. Bonney really does own this role.
Still, gotta love her when she goes to her lowest and highest notes.

Diana Damrau is just the next great Sophie in the line of Erika Köth, Ingeborg Hallstein, Anneliese Rothenberger, Rita Streich and the unbeatable Lucia Popp.
