Excellent cover of the Clash song by The Duke and his support act for the night at Bush Hall - Songdog. Pete said he first heard this on a compilation CD and wanted to play it since then.

  • I don't know why the support were billed as 'Lyndon'. Yes, he's the genius behind all Songdog's stuff, but being a very fair guy, I wouldn't think he'd have been AT ALL pleased to get all the credit. Sadly, I wasn't at the gig so don't know which the opening song of their set was, but knowing me I'd have liked it, as with the exception of about three of their songs, I've loved everything they've done. I think they're probably the most underrated band there is.

  • There's was a lot of swearing in it and it was about sexual prowess.

  • If you like this song, check out Songdog's other stuff, which is brilliant - dark, poignant, intelligent, beautiful, and DIFFERENT. Their fourth album, "A Wretched Sinner's Song" is due to be released in January and if it's anything like their previous ones, I can highly recommend it.

  • I *LOVED* the Songdog cover that Duke referred to in his preamble before singing this duet. Had I know that the support wwere Sopngdog I'd have been less disparaging about the first few tunes they played as the support was billed as 'Lyndon' and I did not see the significance of that. I REALLY hated their opening song of their set, but the rest of their performance was excellent.

  • Yes, only Songdog do it like this. One of my all time favourite acts.

  • Is Songdog the original of this song (in this style, Im not talking about The Clash)

If you do you know who it is please?

  • seeing this reminds me what a great record 'the time of summer ...' is. i'm only just getting the full effects of the new one. congratz, see ya soon.

  • Was it from the new album? If so, I won't know it. A LOT of Songdog's stuff contains 'swearing', but there's not that much about sexual prowess! Yes, I'd say that sex is perhaps the most common subject in Songdog's material but it's generally treated pretty negatively. 'Jezebel' from the first album is a good example of how Lyndon usually writes about sex - how often it can be just a quick fix without any meaning in it. I don't think he's trying to shock - that's just how he sees things.

  • this is gorgeous...
