why does this fool feel he needs to compete with apple ifone? its very unfortunate that so many in the business community feel pigeon holed into pointless competition as opposed to putting out their best work thereby becoming more successful. Plus i feel all to often journalists unfortunately perpetuate a a very mediocre level of questioning like this one does and ballmer falls for it...unfortunately.

Competition is what drives our economy. Without it there is no incentive for companies to make better products, and lower prices, which makes things very bad for the consumer.

competition is all well and good and upto a certain extent healthy too. However if thats ALL that drives you, you will find your self lacking in charismatic and great ideas. As an artist i have often felt my best ideas are sometimes received from my competitor and i have felt inspired to add to it and make it better. Its NOT to bad mouth or push my competitor out of business. The market itself can do that. Excessive competitive tension often drives out the best and juiciest ideas.
