Apple has announced the launch of a new mobile advertising system that could see the company take on Google in the targeted ads market.
Known as iAd the system has been designed for use on the iPad and the next generation of iPhone software.
Although the mobile ad market is small at the moment the company is hoping to take advantage of an expected future boom in the sector.
The system will work with apps meaning a potential new revenue stream for developers as well as Apple.
The company also announced that the next generation of iPhone software, known as OS4, will be capable of multi-tasking.
