This is an entirely community-driven project.
These are videos of me, a person blind from birth, playing through Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with the help of five Zelda fans on YouTube who have put a very generous amount of time and dedication into writing very specific, script-stile directions that have allowed me to navigate through the game.
Thanks to Runnerguy2489 for his help with this segment.
I greatly appreciate when this game throws a challenge like this at me. This segment is challenging, and thats what keeps me interested. The adult portion of the game sure opens with a surprising hurtle, the epic race against the ghost of Dampe who past away sometime during the long 7 years which link spent in the chamber of the sages waiting to be old enough to become the hero of time. I make it through the final door with at most 2 seconds left before the time would have run out. Over all this race was fun. Not so challenging that its unreasonable, like the diving game, but not a cakewalk either (there have actually been areas in the early game that I found quite easy).
The hookshot shooting bit for the heart piece at the end is worth mentioning here. This target is quite small, and we couldnt find a way to measure out movements to hit it. 4 arrow taps up for arguments sake is not accurate, because no 2 arrow taps will be of the exact same length. So naturally, my computer programmer side of me kicked in. I wrote up a little autoit script that would accept a command and respond to it by sending a key press of either Up, Left, Right or down. These key presses are always of the exact same length. I supplied the team with this application, so they were able to measure out how many presses were needed to reach the target from a pre-defined location.
If you are familiar with OoT and would be willing to help with the directions, or would like to see the directions for a specific part of the game, please comment here.
Please read my channel before you comment, regardless of what your comment is.
Thank you, and enjoy the run!

  • With all the walking backwards and backflipping you do, you make Link like a cross between Michael Jackson and a ninja! (I mean that as a good thing of course)

  • I'm sorry, I can't relate to that.

  • I have a tough time doing that running forward... and with vision. Wow man, you're amazing.

  • @luigihack64 It's probably somone typing for him,

  • God, that timing was amazing.

  • Wow, an inspirational dude, with an inspirational story, playing an inspirational game. I bet you can't 100% it! No, just kidding, lol this is so awesome!

  • With this segment especially you and your team take precision and consistency to a whole new level in gaming. And that kind of logical problem solving is definitely something I admire.

  • You didn't make it through the final door with 2 seconds. It was coming down right through your head and you just barely missed getting caught by FRACTIONS of a second. Epic.

  • just as a quick qestion how can you type while being blind?

  • @genuinescorruption Look on the bright side, at least you can't smell terrible odors!
