The standard indicators on a Piaggio XEvo or X8 are pathetic and shine a pinkish orange colour that's really hard to see on a sunny day. So I replaced the bulbs with LED W5W towers from ultraleds.co.uk. Makes a big difference but the angle at which you put the bulbs in the holders makes a big difference to the spread of light from the reflectors as the LED diodes throw out a very directional light.

I also had to fit ballast resistors to the circuit to stop it flashing too fast.

  • @ pashanemiroff I don't know the Ohm value of the resistors, I just bought ones labelled "ballast resistor suitable for LED indicators" from ebay.

  • I own a X8 400and i also change the front turn lighs with led bulbs and I am trying to find the flasher device inside the motorcycle to replace it with a new that can support led lights. Have you any idea where it might be?

  • @etoyokstel sorry I don't know as I just wired resistors across the circuit at the rear lights.

  • what have you done with the problem of quicker flashing?

  • @etoyokstel, I fitted ballast resistors to the inicator circuit. Still not 1005% happy with them but I reckon they are better than the originals, I'm trying to find some wider spread LED's that will fit, white ones might work as they shine through an amber globe anyway.

  • What the measure (Ohm) of the resistor did you put on one indicator ?

    Thanks.

  • Led with rounded head has a narrow beam,

led with flat head has a wide beam,

I'm trying to customize my xevo250ie with full led lights.

The cockpit has a perfect blue background.

Position lights: trying to get the correct color temperature (too cool now)...work in progress...
